Freedom on two wheels: taking in the scenic views from Arrowtown to Queenstown on a stunning day
Embark on a thrilling 25-minute shuttle ride to Arrowtown, where you’ll be equipped with a high-quality mountain bike or E-bike, helmet, and comprehensive briefing to navigate the self-guided adventure.
The route follows the scenic Arrow River Trail downstream to the Morven Ferry, where you’ll cross the river via a few spectacular bridges. From there, you’ll join the Twin Rivers Trail, which winds its way through the foothills of The Remarkables mountains, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. As you ride, take in the stunning vistas and spot the historic Old Shotover Bridge, which has spanned the river for over a century. The trail then flattens out as you reach the shores of Lake Whakatipu, where you’ll have the opportunity to stop and take in the scenery or refuel at one of the nearby cafes or breweries.
The final leg of the journey is a gentle, flowing trail along the lake’s edge before returning to central Queenstown. With a minimum riding distance of 35 km (21 miles) and some decent hills along the way, this ride is recommended for confident riders with a good level of fitness.
